Australian Industry Minister Ian Macfarlane today announced a $728,546 Commercial Ready grant to Darwin-based SRA Information Technology Pty Ltd to complete development of its innovative Envirosys product.
Mr Macfarlane said the grant would be used to help commercialise an environmental information management system which is currently being installed at BHP Billiton to help manage its health, safety, environmental and community data.
"The system incorporates software that has been designed to monitor environmental information from a number of sources and send an alert when allowance standards are exceeded," Mr Macfarlane said.
"The system will automatically benchmark the environmental data sets against current legislative or regulatory frameworks.
"The innovation in the product is in the integration of all data-management events into one single system to provide a holistic view of environmental conditions and trends, which can be accessed via the web from anywhere in the world.
"The company is seeking to extend the product into the area of greenhouse gas emission tracking and monitoring within the international pollutant regime."
Twenty-three companies are sharing in over $9.7 million through the latest round of Commercial Ready and Commercialising Emerging Technologies (COMET) funding.
