SRA Wins Weather Contract with Singapore's NEA
April 2008
SRA Information Technology's 'EnviroSys' environmental information management software has been selected for use by Singapore's National Environment Agency, where it will store, manage, report and present all of Singapore's national weather data.
SRA bid for this work in partnership with NCS Pte. Ltd., Singapore's largest IT services company. NCS is the Prime Contractor for the overall project, valued at around S$4.5m.
The project will involve the installation of more than 70 automatic weather stations around the island. Local weather data will be transmitted back to a central site where it will be validated and accessed through EnviroSys. EnviroSys will also automatically notify NEA staff of missing data and data exceeding set values, as well as automatically generate and distribute reports and publish data to a public website. EnviroSys is designed to hold large volumes of data over a long period of time and provides NEA staff with a spatial interface to the weather data.
Overall, the project will take more than a year to complete.
This win marks the first major international project for SRA, which in 2007 was named the Telstra Australian Business of the Year, and further validates the strength of the EnviroSys product in the marketplace. Within Australia, EnviroSys is used by such organisations as BHP Billiton Iron Ore, Santos, the Port of Melbourne Corporation and BMA Coal.
